Lead Interaction Designer at Spock

Collaborate with cofounder to design and deliver UX for this ‘People Search’ engine.

  • Delivered homepage redesign to increase the number of searches and new signups, communicate site functionality, and encourage exploration.
  • Conducted user-research to design and deliver user-profile display and management user-interface based on user-goals.
  • Collaborated closely with executives to understand business requirements, translated those into product features, delivered mockups (high/low fidelity), and worked closely with engineering to ensure consistent implementation.
  • Designed and implemented standards-based CSS.

Interaction Designer at PayPal

  • Identified new product opportunity, convinced business to approve the project, and collaborated with a cross-functional team to design and deliver ‘Fraud Investigation’ interface that increased efficiency by 10% within three months resulting in estimated savings of several million dollars per year in PayPal’s potential fraud losses. Provided solutions to complex user experience problems. Conducted user research and interviews for persona creation. Delivered mockups, prototypes, and task flows, rapidly, iteratively and flexibly and worked closely with engineering to ensure implementation of the design.
  • Designed and delivered ‘PayPal Security Key’ (second-factor authentication product) in the consumer market in the US, Germany, and Australia with twice the expected adoption rate at launch, with industry-first one/two-step login process that eliminated user error. Google recently launched a similar feature for Gmail with very similar interface design.
  • Formed and lead multi-disciplinary team initiative to increase collaboration and speed innovation; Delivered product guidelines to enhance PayPal Checkout user-experience that eliminated the existing need for engineering resources (estimated between 3-6 months). Worked closely with a cross-functional design team (including visual design and content writer), to deliver mockups, task flows, and detailed documentation.
